I. Mission Statement: The mission of Xristos is to carry out the admonitions
of Scripture to: go and make disciples of all nations, equip the saints for works of service, and care for the
standard of sound words entrusted to the saints, in and through the new medium of the internet. In addition, Xristos
is dedicated to exercising biblical stewardship over its resources by collaborating, not competing with others
in the universal body of Christ in content development, and that all is done to the Glory of God alone.
II. Objective: To be a non profit web resource for educators, pastors, and leaders for
developing and providing "educational" resources for their local congregations worldwide.
III. Scriptural Basis:
A. Ephesians 4:12,13a "equipping the saints for works of service, to the building up
of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God"
B. II Timothy 2:13,14 "Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from
me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 14 Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure
which has been entrusted to you."
C. Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,"
IV. Mission Distinctives:
Xristos is centered upon building up the saints for the purpose of works of service. The distinctive
is that we believe we are all called into the great commission of Christ for works of service. The content on the
site is focused on building up individuals to be disciples, disciples to be leaders, and for leaders to be servants.
Xristos is dedicated to seeking to retaining the standard of the sound words of Scripture entrusted to the saints.
It is recognized that this can only be accomplish through the Holy Spirit and a dedication to viewing Scripture
as the holy treasure by which sound words are made known. Every effort will be made to keep as close to original
documents and the very words of Scripture.
Xristos will strive to make the resources, including generated articles, presentations, video and other content
available for electronic distribution to all interested at no charge. The extent to which Xristos develops will
be determined by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and visibly manifest in contributions of labor and capital
by those so led to participate in this mission.
Xristos work is focused on the medium of the internet and new media. The commitment to collaboration means that
extensive links, collaboration and co-development with existing content will be employed, including collaboration
on fulfillment with ministries in the present working in more traditional media, and the great writings of the
historical church in the past.
V. Our Name:
Xristos is a transliteration of the New Testament Greek word for Christ "criston""
. The Greek letter Chi "c" was retained to insure a connection to the roots and original texts, as well
as visually represent the centrality of the cross in all. The visual symbol Chi-ro is also employed at various
places by Xristos, recalling one of the earliest practices of the Christian community.
V. Theological Identity:
Canon : As expressed in 2 Timothy 3:16, we believe "All Scripture is inspired ("theoneustos"
or God-breathed) by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;"
Creed : The Nicene Creed (ca. 300A.D.) "I believe in one God the Father Almighty; Maker
of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son
of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not
made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who, for us men and for our salvation,
came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified
also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again, according to the
Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again, with
glory, to judge both the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord
and Giver of Life; who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped
and glorified; who spake by the Prophets. And one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one Baptism
for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Church: The universal church consists of those brothers and sisters called by the Holy Spirit,
to life in Christ. This church exists within, yet through historical, geographical, and denominational boundaries.
As evidenced in Ephesians 4:4-7 "There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope
of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all
and in all. 7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift."
